What is whatidlove.co.uk?
Whatidlove.co.uk is a free and easy to use online wish list service which helps you to create lists of presents you would love to receive for any occasion, and communicate these to friends and family, who can then buy you exactly what you would love to receive.
What’s the point?
Millions of pounds are wasted each year on presents that are neither wanted nor needed. If you set up an online wish list you can easily let people know what you would really love to receive for your birthday, Christmas, anniversary, or any occasion. This will save them time, money and avoid all the unnecessary wasted presents and resources.

How does it work?
First you need to register. Then you will be able to create a wish list for any occasion, and find items or charitable donations to add to your list from any retailer, on or offline.
Does it cost anything?
No. Whatidlove has no hidden charges. It is free to set up your lists, and send the list number to your friends and family. When someone buys an item from a list they will pay for the item and postage, as usual, but there is no surcharge, and no mark up on the item.
Should you put an item on your list for contributions we will charge 6.5% of the contribution being made, depending on the admin and bank charges at the time. (see our terms and conditions for the current figure). This charge will be made when you claim the funds. It will not be added to the amount contributed by friends and family.

How do I add items from any online retailer?
When you have created your list, go to “Go Shopping” and launch the “Window Shopper”. Follow the instructions on the Window Shopper to add any item from anywhere to your list.
What is the window shopper?
The window shopper is a small window which, when launched, lets you add details (url, description, price etc.) of any gift you would like to add to your list. Simply follow the instructions on the window shopper and the item will appear on your list.
Does every item appear on the list with a photo?
Most websites identify the product photo, or a selection of photos from which you can select one, and this photo is then automatically transferred to the window shopper, and then to your list. There are some internet sites where this is not possible, and a default photo will appear instead.

What about adding offline items to a list?
From your list, go to “Go Shopping” and click on “Shops not on the Web”, and fill in the details required. This means you can add items that are available from shops that aren’t online…the local antique shops, a beauty treatment at you local spa etc. It also means that you can specify non specific items such as a bottle of wine, anything for the garden and so on.

How can I be sure that 2 people don’t buy the same thing?
When someone comes to buy an item from a list, they must click on the “I’ve bought it” button once they have completed the purchase. Once this is done, the item is removed from the list to avoid duplicate purchase. The list owner will always see what has been bought from their list, until they choose to delete the item or the list.

We suggest that you tell your guests where you would like any gifts bought for you delivered. As each purchase is likely to arrive separately, we would advise that you choose an address where there will be someone at home during the day.

How can I check stock levels and delivery status of an item I have bought?"
As Whatidlove just holds the list on your behalf we are not able to check on stock or the delivery status of items bought sites/ retailers you include on your list. We suggest you refer to the sites you have chosen and use retailers you trust.
Will my gifts all be delivered at once?
As items are bought at different times they will be delivered according to the delivery terms of the retailer from whom the purchase was made. This will mean too that they will arrive at different times so it is advisable to let your guests / visitors to lists know the delivery address you would prefer the item to be sent to, and to ensure that you will be able to receive them/ sign for them).

How does the contributions facility work?
Our new contributions facility enables users to add larger expensive items to their list and visitors to contribute towards their cost.
This is how it works:
The User adds the item to a list and ticks a box so that people can contribute towards it.
When someone contributes they choose the amount they want to give, use their credit card and the funds go into a secure bank account.
There is a running total and Users can see at all times how much has been given. When they decide they want to claim the funds, they just click a button and request the money.
Whatidlove then transfers the money directly into their account and sends them the link to buy the item.
Do I have to wait until contributions reach the total item amount before I make a claim?
As the list owner you can claim the contributions made to something on your list any time you like. Once you have claimed, however, the item is no longer available for contributions.
What if the amount of contributions is insufficient when the date of event arrives?
If insufficient contributions have been made and you would like to keep the item on your list, you can move the item from one list to another so, for example, when Christmas is over, an item could go onto a birthday list for further contributions.
